2017 Recital Finale
About the Finale
The Finale number is a large group jazz routine performed at the end of each of our five May Recital shows. We invite students from several jazz levels to participate, and depending on the show, there could be 50 students on stage. We divide the students up into three groups, by level. Each group will have their own section in the dance. We for the past several years have also included a small section for our High School Seniors. At the end, everyone will come on stage for a closing section.
Students are not required to perform in all five shows. They may choose to perform the finale only in the shows in which they are dancing other numbers, or they may choose to do more shows if they wish. (Check the Recital Info Chart to see which shows your other numbers are in.)
The Finale is entirely optional. Those wishing to participate will need to attend most of the rehearsals listed below, they will have a small participation fee posted to their account, and they will have to let us know which of our five shows they would like to participate in.
Finale Rehearsal Dates
2017 Finale Rehearsal dates will be posted when they become available. You will have the date info before you need to commit to participating. In past years, rehearsals were held from 1:30-3:30p on Saturdays from early March through early May. All those wishing to participate in the Finale will need to attend most of the scheduled rehearsals – missing more than three can be difficult.Conflicts or Questions?
If you are interested but have conflicts with the rehearsal dates or questions about the Finale, please call the studio before accepting or declining to participate.
Costumes and Shoes
Finale students will receive a letter before the Recital detailing what will be required for costuming. Students may need to supply their own jazz pants, jazz shoes, and miscellaneous accessories.
Important: Students most likely will need to obtain a pair of Tan Jazz Shoes to be in the Finale. Students taking Jazz or Lyrical should already have these shoes. Students taking only tap may need to obtain a pair of Tan Jazz Shoes, if they wish to participate. Check our shoe exchange, or try to borrow a pair; however, we are not able to buy jazz shoes for students who do not have them.
Questions?
The recital is an exciting time for the students. If you have any questions about the performance, dates, costumes, or whatever, please call us; we are there for you.
